The state-run Iranian news agency (IRNA) released footage on Wednesday showing massive explosions in the southwestern city of Bandar Abbas following overnight US strikes.

Footage shows bright flashes lighting up the night sky, followed by powerful explosions and loud blasts. The exact date of the footage could not be independently verified.

US Launches Strikes

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said its forces struck ‘over 80 targets’ across Iran on Wednesday, after accusing Tehran of targeting commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

“US forces struck Iranian air defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar sites, anti-ship missile capabilities, and more than 60 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps small boats in and near the strait,” CENTCOM announced in a post on X.

CENTCOM said the strikes were intended to “degrade Iran’s ability to continue attacking international commerce flowing through the international trade corridor”.

Iran Responds

Iranian Parliament Speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf accused the US of ‘major MoU violations,’ including ‘attacks on southern Iran.’
