ActiveSG Queenstown Sport Centre
When you think brand spanking new, the quaint neighbourhood of Queenstown probably doesn’t float to mind. But turn back the hands of time, and you’ll find that it’s the home of many “firsts”, pioneering all sorts of public amenities that we use on a daily basis today.
For starters, it’s the very first satellite town, which also plays host to our nation’s first public branch library, polyclinic, and HDB point blocks. You can also add Singapore’s first neighbourhood sports complex to that list, which has recently reopened after a major makeover as the upgraded ActiveSG Queenstown Sport Centre.
Here’s what we saw on our tour of the refreshed facility, from upgraded amenities to preserved heritage features that are sure to evoke some nostalgia.
What to expect at the new ActiveSG Queenstown Sport Centre
If you didn’t know, the old Queenstown Sports Complex was opened all the way back in 1970, and is Singapore’s very first neighbourhood sports complex. Having been closed for renovations in May 2025, it now reopens as the ActiveSG Queenstown Sport Centre.
The facility actually announced a soft launch via Facebook on 1st July 2026, and has been welcoming visitors to catch a glimpse of its new additions ever since.
